Launched in June 2009, My First Musical offers children (12 and under) and their parents, who may be faced with economic hardship, free admission to each production in Mercury's current season. All applications must be received in writing and will be reviewed and awarded on a first-come basis, and in consideration of qualifying income levels. Each show of our current Mercury season will participate in one non-public performance for the My First Musical program, and will consist of study guide materials, a pre-show interactive workshop with the various designers, an unabridged performance and a post-show discussion with the actors and director, and new this year, the opportunity to participate in up to three Saturday morning workshops with a focus on singing, acting and dancing. My First Musical is the perfect platform to unleash your child’s creative side.

"My Mercury! Theatre Intensive was the first show I've ever been in where what the teens had to say really mattered! It's nice to know our opinions and ideas are heard by the awesome creative team!"
“The most intense week of summer for me was My Mercury! Theatre Intensive. Having to go in on day one and know that in 4 short days you would be putting on a show for people to see was a frightening thought. However, with the help of the entire creative staff at Mercury, it turned out to be one of the best weeks of the summer, AND we pulled it off! My Mercury! taught me how to be efficient with my time, learn more about every aspect of theatre, and have fun. The entire experience is one I will never forget, and I hope teens out there interested in theatre, even just a little bit, will become a part of that process. I promise you'll make a ton of memories and have a great time!”
“I have participated in the My Mercury! Theatre Intensive for the past 2 years! I live over an hour away, but the drive has always been worth it. It's the craziest, most fun week of the summer for me. Doing a show in one week seems almost impossible, but by Friday everything seems to fall into place. The staff is always positive and motivating the teens to put on the best production we can. I've made some amazing friends from this program and I look forward to it every summer!”
